Gadchiroli : –There was credible intelligence that,Naxalites are threatening and misguiding people of Todgatta area to intensify ongoing protest against developmental activities and establishment of Police camps. People participating in this protest were helpless due to the continuous threat by Naxalites. Gadchiroli Police had launched an anti-Naxal operation in Hikker jungle area under AOP Gatta (Ja.) in Hedri Sub-division.
Today at around 11:00 am, about 60 to 70 Naxalites started indiscriminate fire on C-60 parties with the intention of killing security personnel and taking away their weapons and ammunition. Police parties made an appeal to the Naxalites to surrender but they did not surrender.In self-defense police started controlled firing in the direction of Naxals.Encounter continued for 30 to 45 minutes.Sensing increased police presence Naxalites fled away by taking the advantage of thick forest.
After the encounter, search operation was conducted were police got one dead body of male Naxal named Sameer @ Sadhu Linga Mohanda, age 31 yrs., R/o, Tumarkodi, AOP Kothi, Tah. Bhamaragad, dist. Gadchiroli. He has four crimes registered against him. He was member of Chatgaon LOS. He was made member of Coy. 4 in 2018. He is carrying a reward of Rupees 2 lakhs.
Along with above mentioned Naxal dead body police has recovered one .303 rifle, one country made rifle, one Bharmar rifle, 2 SLR magazines & 30 rounds, 3 rounds of 8 mm rifle, 4 rounds of 12 bore, 2 pittus, naxal literature, Tablet of Samsung company, 1 Radio, cash Rs. 38,120/-, Naxal uniforms and other Naxal belongings. Search operation is still going on and crime registration is also going on.
The above successful operation was conducted under the able guidance of Shri Neelotpal, Supdt. of Police, Gadchiroli, Shri Anuj Tare, Addl. Supdt. of Police (Ops.), Gadchiroli, Shri Kumar Chintha, Addl. Supdt. of Police (Admin.) Gadchiroli, Shri Yatish Deshmukh, Addl. Supdt.of Police, Aheri.Shri. Neelotpal, Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli has appreciated the efforts and bravery of the C-60 commandos and vowed to intensify the anti-naxal operations against the Left-wing extremists.
